“Fujibayashi and Rosenkrantz individual trajectories, studies and projects converge in a completely organic way in the work they create together as Tapage. Critics have frequently emphasized on the quality of the musical selection characterizing each one of their performances...”

Juan Arturo Brennan, critic, Mexico City.

Fujibayashi - Rosenkrantz

Choreographers/dancers Mari Fujibayashi (Japan) and Olivia Rosenkrantz (France) have developed stage works in which cultural barriers come closer, erase and find each other.

Mari and Olivia studied and performed in New York with the great Masters of rhythm tap.  Their unique percussive dance duo combines Asian and European roots with the American art form, incorporates dramatic intensity and rhythmic complexity with a contemporary gesture. “The alchemy at work on stage is one of Tapage’s essential features: a mixture of artistic languages (choreography, music, text, scenography), a crossing of cultures, mutual enrichment and fusion of the arts. The outcome is one never seen before!”

Tapage’s inventive world of sound and movement also finds its inspiration performing with international artists including: string quartets Cuarteto Latinoamericano (Mexico/USA) and Quatuor Stanislas (France); violinist Todd Reynolds (USA); The Colorado Music Festival Chamber Orchestra directed by Michael Christie; Gradus Ad Musicam symphonic orchestra (France); shakuhachi master Myoshi Genzan; Colombian guitarist/singer Claudia Gomez; Jazz trios, world music percussionists, singers and actors…

Tapage has performed in Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, and the United States. Appearances include the New York City Center Fall for Dance Festival, The New York City Tap Festival at the Duke Theater and the Joyce Theater, the 92nd street Y, The Colorado Music Festival. With Cuarteto Latinoamericano: the Monterrey Universal Forum of Cultures 2007 (Mexico), Mexico City’s Musica y Escena Festival, Carnegie Mellon University, and Carnegie Music Hall and Free Library in Carnegie (PA).
