- Dances on led : Choreography presented in ”Revueltas”, Salle Poirel, Nancy, France (2000)
- Solo performance by Olivia Rosenkrantz, for the opening of the exhibition "épreuve d’artiste" Abbaye des Prémontrés, Pont à Mousson, France (2007)
“Accompanied by a symphonic orchestra, music, dance and installation art met for an exceptional and unique project: As Rosenkrantz performed a sand dance solo, the marks of her dance were imprinted and memorized on the surface of the led. As viewers observed the event, something magical seemed to happen: the symbiosis on the dance with the music was given a third temporal layer as we witnessed the tracing of the matrix to be”.
Artist Magdalena Grandmontagne’s versatile practice has evolved from etching through painting to incorporate performance. Center to her work is the subject matter of the trace but in theses particular pieces the trace bears testimony of the dynamic quality of the performance. In the past few years Grandmontagne has to work with one particular metal: soft and malleable sheets of led. With these sheets she covers stages upon which tap dance performances take place. The flexible material bends and warps under the dancers feet. In this way images are created that display the energy generated by the dancer’s performance…
Later on, in her print maker studio Grandmontagne translates these lead sheets into large scale canvasThe artist transforms these monumental sheets of graphic marks and shapes into light and softly toned colourful paintings. Successive layers of color blend to give a subtle depth to the image. This quality of lightness that the paintings achieve echoes the initial performance. Rhythm and movement are held and transformed into a visual image.
