We were fortunate to receive a strong rhythm tap training from American masters, which is today, the base of our common vocabulary and technique. With great respect and appreciation for the art form tradition deeply related to jazz music and improvisation, Tapage has explored a different path.
The discovery of Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas (1899-1940) transformed our choreographic approach. His music is the inspiration of our work with Latin, classical, contemporary composers and ensembles.
Searching for a symbiosis between both percussive and gestural sides of the dance has lead us to develop Tapage’s concept of music and movement as well as our own choreographic notation.
